CANADA VISITOR VISA (TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA - TRV)
The Canada Visitor Visa—also known as the Temporary Resident Visa
(TRV)—allows foreign nationals to enter Canada for tourism, visiting family or
friends, or short business trips. It is a short-term visa that does not permit work or
study in Canada.
Eligibility Requirements
- Purpose of Visit: Must clearly state the reason for travel (tourism, family
visit, or business).
- Financial Proof: Show adequate funds to cover accommodation, travel, and living
expenses.
- Ties to Home Country: Demonstrate strong ties (job, property, or family)
ensuring return after visit.
- Health & Character: May require a medical exam and a clean criminal record.
Application Steps
- Complete the TRV application online through the IRCC portal.
- Upload required documents (passport, photos, proof of funds, travel purpose).
- Pay the visa fee and submit biometrics (if required).
- Wait for IRCC’s decision and receive your TRV.
After Arrival in Canada
- Comply with all conditions listed on your visa.
- Do not work or study unless authorized by IRCC.
- Leave Canada before your authorized stay expires.
Tip: You can apply for a multiple-entry TRV
valid up to 10 years, allowing you to travel to Canada multiple times during its validity period.
