Quebec Experience Program (PEQ)

The Quebec Experience Program (Programme de l’expérience québécoise — PEQ) is a streamlined immigration pathway that enables foreign students and skilled workers with experience in Quebec to obtain permanent residency more efficiently. The PEQ is designed to recognize the contributions of individuals who have studied or worked in Quebec and wish to continue building their future in the province.

Eligibility Requirements

• Education or Work Experience: Applicants must have completed eligible studies or gained professional experience in Quebec under valid authorization.
• French Language Proficiency: Proficiency in French is a key requirement for most applicants. Proof of language ability may be required through recognized tests or education in French.
• Intention to Reside in Quebec: Applicants must intend to settle permanently in Quebec and actively contribute to its economy and society.
• Financial Stability: Applicants must demonstrate sufficient financial resources to support themselves and accompanying family members during their transition.
• Good Conduct: Applicants must have no criminal record and may need to provide police clearance certificates.

Available Streams under PEQ

• PEQ — Quebec Graduate: For international students who have completed an eligible diploma or degree from a recognized Quebec institution. The studies must have been completed full-time and meet specific program requirements.
• PEQ — Quebec Skilled Worker: For foreign nationals who have acquired eligible full-time work experience in Quebec in an occupation that qualifies under the provincial criteria.

Application Process

1. Step 1: Verify eligibility for the appropriate PEQ stream (Graduate or Worker).
2. Step 2: Prepare necessary documentation, including proof of studies or work experience, French proficiency, and financial means.
3. Step 3: Submit the PEQ application online to the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI).
4. Step 4: Await the review of your application. Processing times vary based on completeness and current demand.
5. Step 5: Upon approval, receive a Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificat de sélection du Québec — CSQ).

After Approval

Once you receive your CSQ, you can apply for permanent residency through the federal immigration system with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The CSQ confirms Quebec’s selection and allows you to complete your PR process at the federal level.
